DOMMUNE
Naohiro Ukawa is a rare artist who is currently engaged in the most free expression in modern Japan, erasing the existing frameworks of fine art and popular culture. After converting his office into a club and establishing the now-legendary Mixrooffice (2006-2008), he opened Japan's first live streaming studio DOMMUNE in 2010 as a new cultural hub for the social stream era! It suddenly appeared as the "final media" in the era that was said to be the dawn of SNS, and boasts overwhelming program quality and number of viewers among the profusion of live streaming programs. Every Monday to Thursday, two programs are streamed every day for five hours every weekday between 7:00 p.m. and midnight. Since its launch, it has continued to exist as a unique cultural platform where various guests from all over the world appear whenever they visit Japan. It has also influenced the London-based music channel BOILER ROOM, and DOMMUNE is in charge of the Japanese branch of BOILER ROOM TOKYO. It is no exaggeration to say that DOMMUNE has created the template for almost all of the sound and art streaming and culture streaming that is now overflowing around the world. Over the past nine years, DOMMUNE has streamed approximately 4,000 programs, 7,000 hours, and 1.5 billion terabytes of content, with a total audience of over 50 million. In an age where the traditional concepts and formats of "broadcasting," "publishing," and "advertising" are collapsing, DOMMUNE continues to experiment with live video streaming, innovatively uncovering new possibilities for visual communication day and night. Ukawa considers the filming, streaming, and recording of the programs produced daily at the DOMMUNE studio to be his own "current art work." He has also participated in numerous international contemporary art exhibitions, setting up satellite studios around the world in London, Dortmund, Stockholm, Paris, Mumbai, Linz, Fukushima, Yamaguchi, Osaka, Kagawa, Kanazawa, Akita, Sapporo, and more, and continues to simultaneously explore the meanings of omnipresence (here and now) and omnipresence (anytime, anywhere). In 2019, the satellite studio "DOMMUNE SETOUCHI" will be opened at the Setouchi Triennale 2019, which will be held in his birthplace! In order to spread the fascinating culture of "SETOUCHI," which was selected as the number one "destination to visit in 2019" by National Geographic Traveler magazine, to the world, the studio will be moved from Shibuya to Setouchi, and about 50 programs will be broadcast from his hometown of Takamatsu during the summer period!!!!! And on July 13th, he will collaborate with the party "NIGHT FISHING" organized by SAKANACTION, and will evolve (deepen) as "MID NIGHT FISHING" with cutting-edge technology in the moonlit forest of Iwamizawa, Hokkaido!!!!! Experience this program, a "live work of art" created by the uniqueness of "here" and "now"!!!!!!!
